KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo School officials say they may be back to class but COVID-19 continues to cause a series of problems, the latest is in the lunch line. Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri says worker shortages in the food industry nationwide mean that some ingredients are not available, or arrive late.
The menu they post ahead of time may not be what students see when they come to the counter for breakfast or lunch. She says they are also short on workers in food services. Many students depend on school meals.
As we have reported the District is also struggling to keep school buses rolling and classrooms filled with teachers and substitute teachers because of the national worker shortage and are actively recruiting candidates.
