PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Portage has announced plans for its annual Fall Festival, scheduled to take place this Sunday, October 3.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Celery Flats Historical Area, located at 7335 Garden Lane.
Residents will have the opportunity to take a horse-drawn carriage from the Historical Area to the Portage Farmers Market at City Hall (7900 South Westnedge Avenue).
After collecting produce at the market, attendees will have the opportunity to view a demonstration on how to prepare autumn vegetables. Those demonstrations will take place at at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The historical buildings at the Celery Flats Historical Area will be open for tours, along with crafts and historical demonstrations. They include the following subject:
- Rope making,
- glass blowing,
- pottery,
- woodturning and
- blacksmithing.
There will also be a self-guided activity at the cemetery from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
In addition, Scheumann Farm & Petting Zoo will be onsite from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. with a collection of animals, including Roscoe the camel.
The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
