KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As Kalamazoo officials continue to tackle a surge in gun violence in the community this year, an investigation led to two arrests and the recovery of weapons Thursday.
A surveillance effort involving a 28-year-old Kalamazoo man believed to be tied to recent gun crimes in the city led to an arrest in the 1300 block of Washington Avenue. He briefly fled from officers, but once he was in custody a loaded weapon was found in his possession. During that arrest, a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man was seen running away from the scene as well. As officers pursued him, he discarded a weapon that was recovered.
He was arrested too and both men were taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail on several charges related to weapons and obstructing police.
