SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Following reports of an officer-involved crash during a stolen vehicle incident Tuesday, the South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) has released a statement regarding the matter.
Previously, police reported that a 42-year-old South Haven man was arrested after stealing a SHAES vehicle.
Around 4:00 p.m., police were made aware of a stolen emergency vehicle that was taken from South Haven Area Emergency Services Station One in Casco Township, located in Allegan County.
The driver was later found with the vehicle at the SHAES Blue Star Highway location, about ten miles away, and arrested. He is currently lodged at the Allegan

County Jail.
Sometime during that incident, an officer responding to the incident crashed a patrol vehicle. The officer was transported to Bronson South Haven with non-life threatening injuries.
That crash is currently under investigation by the Michigan State Police. Further details have not been released.
On Wednesday, SHAES released a statement offering further details into what happened, calling the incident “bizarre.”
Officials say the vehicle was a department Jeep (pictured above) that is normally used to respond to field fires. The suspect had apparently broken several windows to gain entry to the Casco Township building before making off with the Jeep.
Officials said several citizens observed the driver traveling down county roads with the sirens and lights on. Officials became aware of the matter because the suspect was using the two-way radio system.
The suspect was later apprehended when he dropped the Jeep off at the Blue Star Highway outpost, and officials said there was no damage to the vehicle.
