PENNFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Pennfield School Board of Education named an interim superintendent Monday night, following the resignation of the previous superintendent just as the school year started
The school board interviewed three candidates for the interim superintendent position at a meeting Monday and chose Don Myers, a board director with the Michigan Association of School Boards. Myers has worked as an elementary, middle and high school teacher, as well as a principal and superintendent in other districts.
The vote came after the sudden resignation of previous Pennfield Schools Superintendent Kevin Simmons, whose letter to step down was approved by the board August 23, the night before the first day of school.
Simmons’ resignation followed recent tension between him and the school board.
