KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Anger over mask mandates in Kalamazoo County spilled over into a County Board meeting last night that was held for a completely different reason. Some parents opposed to masks in schools once again spoke up on the subject.
They’re upset that the decision of whether their children should be required to mask up or not when classes resume next week is out of their hands. They called on the County Board to drop the mask mandate and some even called for the removal of Health Director Jim Rutherford, who issued the mask mandate last week. But there were others who thanked the county for the mask mandate.
The County Board does not have the legal authority to rescind a Health Department order and says they have been pleased with the department’s handling of the pandemic.
