Farmers are online more these days and are using the internet for an expanded range of activities.
A USDA study finds 82% of U.S. farms have access to the internet which is a 7% increase over two years ago. A growing number of producers are now purchasing inputs via computer while a growing number of farms – 21% – use the internet to market what the farm produces.
This year’s survey finds half of internet connected farms use broadband connection while 70% had connection through a cellular data plan. The survey is taken every two years.
