LANSING, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Michigan State Police has 57 troopers working around the state after the 139th Trooper Recruit School held its graduation ceremony last Friday.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer was the keynote speaker during last Friday’s ceremony. She said, “Public service is a noble calling and I’m proud of the 57 graduates who join the ranks of the Michigan State Police today to begin serving the people of Michigan. The Michigan State Police is one of the premier law enforcement agencies in our country, and I want every trooper to know that as a former prosecutor, I got your back and I recognize and appreciate the sacrifices you make to
keep us safe.”
State Police Director Col. Joe Gasper administered the Oath of Office to the graduating troopers who will begin their assignments at State Police posts across Michigan this week.
Troopers Timothy Daniels, Joshua Doan and Derek Reynolds have been assigned to the Paw Paw post while Trooper Brock Bowers was assigned to the Marshall post.
The 139th Trooper Recruit School began on March 7 with 75 prospective troopers at the MSP Training Academy in Lansing.
Including the newest graduates, there are approximately 1,215 troopers assigned statewide, and a total of 1,900 enlisted members in the MSP.
The next recruit school began on Sunday. Graduation is scheduled for February 17, 2022.
