BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Battle Creek Lakeview School Superintendent Blake Prewitt says the district will require masks at the start of this school year due to the high transmission rate of COVID-19 cases in Calhoun County.
Masks will have to be worn by students and staff members indoors and on school buses.
It’s a change from the district’s previous policy.
WWMT-TV reports the policy will be reviewed on a weekly basis and they will communicate with parents each Friday on whether or not masks will still be required.
Lakeview joins Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Holland public schools in requiring masks at least at the start of the school year. Among the districts that are recommending but not requiring masks are Portage and Mattawan.
