LANSING, MI — That massive power restoration process continues across southern Michigan this morning. As of 6:00 A.M. Friday morning, about 161,000 customers were without power.
Wednesday night’s storm caused widespread damage in the southern third of the state. Especially hard hit were Jackson and Hillsdale counties. A Consumers Energy spokesman says their crews are joined by contractors from across Michigan and seven states, including as far away as Missouri, New York and Tennessee.
In all, over 371,000 homes and businesses that Consumers serves lost power at some point since Tuesday night, the company said, making it one of the 10 most significant storms in company history.
