HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Voyages on the S.S. Badger across Lake Michigan, from Ludington to Manitowoc, WI, and back again, are on hold until at least Aug. 19, 2021.
Lake Michigan Carferry officials announced this week that one S.S. Badger crew member has tested positive for COVID-19 and is quarantined ashore. Through contact tracing, three more at-risk crew members were identified and are awaiting test results.
“The safety of our employees and passengers is our top priority. We are hopeful that this is an isolated case,” says Mark W. Barker, Interlake Maritime Services president. Interlake operates the Lake Michigan Carferry. “However, to reduce the risk of the virus spreading, we will be voluntarily suspending S.S. Badger sailings for approximately one week after the vessel completes its scheduled sailings on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.”
Company officials indicated the S.S. Badger is set to resume service on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021.
People with reservations to travel on the S.S. Badger between now and next Wednesday, August 18, 2021, can reschedule reschedule their booking or get a full refund.
To make arrangements, call, toll-free, 1-800-841-4243. People can re-book trips through Oct. 10, which is the last day of the season. No change fees or refund fees will be charged.
Company officials expressed appreciation for customers’ understanding of the difficulties, asking for patience from those calling the reservation line.
