BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE: The second suspect in a recent shooting at the Arbors Apartments in Battle Creek is said to be cooperating with police, according to an update from WWMT Tuesday.
Previously, police had reported that a shooting occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 28 at the Arbors of Battle Creek.
Police say 27-year-old Andre Watson was shot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A 29-year-old woman was also shot, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
The first shooter was confirmed to be Lansing Hodges, who faces charges of open murder and felony firearm.
It was also confirmed that the 29-year-old woman was the sister of Watson. Hodges will be back in court on Friday, August 13.
According to the new update on Tuesday, Battle Creek Detective Sgt. Joel Case says the second suspect came in and gave a statement to police.
That suspect was identified as a 24-year-old man from Battle Creek. Police say he is assisting the investigation and is not in custody at this time.
Charges for the second suspect, if any, will be decided after the information is turned over to a prosecutor.
The case remains under investigation at this time.
