LANSING, MI — Today is the August primary election in Michigan. The Secretary of State’s Office reminds voters polls will be open until 8:00 p.m.
In Lansing, city council races in wards across the city will be decided in today’s primary. Lansing Mayor Andy Schor is facing a field of five others for the office. CATA is offering free rides to the polls in the city. An essential services millage questions is also on the ballot in Lansing.
Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope says over 11,000 absentee ballots have been allotted. In fact, the majority of voting in the city will be done by absentee ballot, according to Swope. In order to count, absentee ballots need to be dropped off in a drop box or at a local clerk’s office by 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
