BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An early morning fire at an apartment in Battle Creek Sunday is believed to be related to an electrical problem.
Firefighters were called to Williamsburg Apartments on Wagner Dr. just before 2:00 a.m.. Smoke was pouring out of a second-story window. Ladders were deployed to help crews put out the flames.
One tenant had to be rescued from an adjacent unit and the rest of the people who lived there were able to evacuate. The fire was under control in about ten minutes and there were no injuries.
Investigators say the fire was sparked from an electric outlet and that the tenant was not home when it started.
