LANSING, MI — A major road project in the mid-Michigan area just west of Lansing gets underway today and will carry major implications for travel.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest approximately $65 million to rebuild I-69 from I-96 to Airport Road near DeWitt, rebuild the interchanges at Francis and Airport roads, and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to 13 bridges between the I-96/I-69 interchange and Airport Road.
Work beginning this week will require lane closures in each direction to allow crews to safely build temporary pavement and crossovers to use in later stages of the project. In addition, the westbound I-69 ramp to eastbound I-96 will be closed and detoured.
