PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage City Manager Joseph La Margo says he’ll be stepping down from his position at the end of August.
“It has been a great pleasure serving the City of Portage, and I am grateful to Mayor Randall, the City Council, all the staff members, and residents I have had the privilege of working with in my role as City Manager,” La Margo said in a release dated Saturday, July 24.
La Margo is set to take on a manager position for a community in Illinois. He said he and his family are making the move to help support his mother-in-law after his father-in-law died from COVID-19.
“I appreciate the support of the City of Portage, and as I look forward to the next step in my career, I will always reflect fondly on my time here and the great work we did together,” said La Margo, who’s last day as city manger will be August 30.
The city has not yet had a chance to discuss a replacement, which could be brought up as early as the next city council meeting.
