BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The City of Battle Creek announced on Thursday night that due to a counselor testing positive for COVID-19, the city’s KidVenture summer camp will close immediately and will remain closed until further notice.
Full Blast Recreation Center including the fitness center is also closed until further notice so that the building can be cleaned and sanitized and the remaining camp staff can be tested for COVID-19.
Summer camp at Full Blast is held from June to August. Because of the summer heat, and no air conditioning in the facility, most camp activities take place outside.
City staff are calling all camp families to notify them of the situation and camp closure.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department will call anyone who was a close contact to the counselor, and provide instructions. A close contact is anyone who was within six feet of that person for a total of 15 minutes or more.
Flash Flood Water Park will remain open from 12-6 p.m. daily. The water park operates separately from Full Blast, and visitors enter from the outside.
