More of the U.S. workforce will be working from home beyond 2021. One of the results of this trend could be 30 million meal occasions daily that used to be lunches consumed away from home will move to the kitchen.
Research presented at this summer’s Chicken Marketing Summit presents an opportunity for the poultry industry. The survey found 91 percent of respondents plan to continue eating fresh chicken at home with 30 percent saying they’ll eat more chicken than pre-pandemic.
Looking ahead, National Chicken Council poultry industry recommendations include leveraging e-commerce platforms for food on demand in order to get greater market share in home food preparation.
