KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE: A Kalamazoo woman who was recently the victim of a carjacking incident was confirmed to be a Jimmy John’s delivery driver, according to an update by MLive Wednesday.
Previously, police with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) said a woman was injured during a carjacking in Kalamazoo Monday evening.
Around 9 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Crawford Street and Sprague Avenue. The victim said she was held at gunpoint and struck with the firearm before the suspects stole her vehicle.
Police had previously said three suspects were involved, but there may have actually been four involved, according to the update.
Her car was later located on Stockbridge Avenue near March Street, but the suspects had already left the area.
KDPS Public Information Officer Ryan Bridges told MLive that the woman was a Jimmy John’s delivery driver, and had gone to the address on a bogus food order.
As a result of this incident, police are urging delivery drivers to use caution going forward.
A description of the suspects is unavailable at this time. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact police at 269-337-8139 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
