MICHIGAN CENTER, MI — A Monday night vigil at Michigan Center High School drew hundreds of people to honor the memories of three young men who are believed to have died from carbon monoxide exposure while camping near the Faster Horses Music Festival in Brooklyn last weekend.
Police identified the three deceased men as Dawson Brown, 20, of Michigan Center in Jackson County; William Mays II, 20, of Jackson; and Kole Sova, 19, of Jackson.
According to Lenawee County Sheriff Troy Beveier, two men survived the accident but are in critical condition; Rayfield Johnson, 20, of Jackson and Kurtis Stitt, 20, of Hesperia.
Organizers of the music festival posted Monday on Facebook: “We will continue to stay in close contact with the Lenawee County Sheriff and all other law enforcement agencies, and follow their lead regarding any and all information as it is officially confirmed. Our hearts are broken for the families, friends and loved ones.”
The families are tentatively planning to hold visitation at the high school on Wednesday, with separate services to follow later, according to a report in the Detroit News on Tuesday.
