BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Firekeepers Casino announced on Monday that they will celebrate the August 16 grand opening of their new hotel expansion with an appearance by high wire daredevil Nik Wallenda.
Wallenda, who calls himself the King of the High Wire, is scheduled to walk a 400 foot tight rope nearly 200 feet above the ground from the existing tower to the new tower.
His web site states Wallenda has 11 Guiness World Records and has performed live in every state in the U.S.A. as well as around the world.
He has crossed the Grand Canyon and Niagra Falls. Wallenda has also walked while wearing a blindfold between two towers in Chicago.
Wallenda is a great grandson of the legendary high wire artist Karl Wallenda.
The eight story second hotel tower will have over 200 rooms. It was originally scheduled to open last December but delays took place due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a shortage of workers and materials.
FireKeepers will begin the opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. on August 16 with Wallenda’s walk at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Details for remote viewing will be announced via FireKeepers website and social media channels soon.
