BROOKLYN, MI — Carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected in the deaths of three young men at a camp site near the Faster Horses Festival.
Police say five men were found unresponsive at a campground in Woodstock Township on Saturday morning. Three were pronounced dead at the scene while two others were taken to an area hospital, where they are listed in critical condition.
According to a preliminary investigation, the men were exposed to carbon monoxide from a nearby generator that allowed fumes to enter their camper. First responders say its important to keep generators away from camping areas, tents, travel trailers, etc. as well as exhaust fumes from running vehicles.
