BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man is in custody after leading police on a chase around the city of Battle Creek Tuesday night. The 37-year-old from Pennfield Township struck two patrol cars during the pursuit, according to police.
It began when the man was pumping gas at a station on Capital Ave. SW. at around 9:00 p.m.. Officers had been looking for him on various warrants and after confirming his identity, they approached and tried to prevent him from leaving, but he was able to drive off, nearly hitting two officers who were on foot. The chase reached speeds up to 70 m.p.h. before the suspect crashed into a building on Wagner Dr. He briefly fled on foot before he was captured.
Calhoun County Prosecutors have now added additional charges to the original ones he already was facing. The suspect’s name has not been released.
