LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The first four winners of the MI Shot To win sweepstakes were announced Wednesday by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The sweepstakes, a lottery-style drawing, offers cash prizes of $50,000, as well as drawings for prizes of $1 and $2 million. There are also drawings for youth to win college scholarships.
The goal is to increase the state’s vaccination rate by roughly 9%, about 667,000 Michiganders, to achieve the statewide goal of 70% of residents age 16 and older who are immunized.
Each of the four participants announced Wednesday won $50,000.
They were named as follows:
- Amber Berger, New Baltimore
- Adrienne Peterson, Southfield
- Christopher Ackerman, Detroit
- Larita Lee, Wyoming
Further drawings will be held later this month for other prizes. The contest is open to anyone who has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine starting from December 1, 2020.
