KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – While the debris from this week’s backyard fireworks shows is still being picked up, Kalamazoo City Commissioners could soon add the Juneteeth holiday to the dates when fireworks are permitted.
City Attorney Clyde Robinson says his proposal would be to allow them, but only on a weekend day.
They would only be permitted on June 19 when the holiday falls on a Friday or Saturday. In all other years, it would be the third Saturday in June.
City Commissioners will consider it for first reading tonight, and if approved, it would be up for final consideration in two weeks.
