BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Louisville, Kentucky pilot has won top honors at the Battle Creek Field of Flight and Balloon Show.
37-year-old Nick Donner was announced as the winner Sunday, taking home $1,500 and a watch. He also won several evening tasks which were just for cash and not for points toward the overall championship.
Donner finished with 13,141 points in the 15 tasks from the four morning flights. First place in each task is awarded 1,000 points and Donner won four of the tasks.
Shawn Raya, of Highland, was second with 12,363 points and Al Nels of Beavercreek, Ohio, was third with 11,866 points.
Blake Aldridge, of Longview, Texas, was fourth with 11,717 points and Paul Petrehen, of Howell, was fifth with 10,851.

According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, it was the first time Donner has flown in Battle Creek in several years but he won three of his five national championships and a world championship in Battle Creek.
