Man shot in same area of Kalamazoo where 9-year-old was shot and killed last week

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo police are investigating a shooting that happened late last night.

Police responded at around 11:15 p.m. on reports of shots fired and located an 18-year-old victim who had been shot several times. It happened in the same area where a 9-year-old was fatally shot last week near Lake and James streets, but there’s no indication that this shooting is related.

The victim was taken to the hospital and later released. No suspects have been identified.
