KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County is reminding drivers to exercise caution and awareness in construction zones following an accident on Thursday.
A three-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Meredith and Sprinkle roads in an active construction zone. It had minimal impact on the construction progress and no injuries have been reported, but the Road Commission says it could have been much worse.
“All things considered, we’re thankful for minimal impacts both for motorists and the team working on the construction project. Safety is our number one priority,” stated Elli Blonde, spokesperson for the RCKC.
The Sprinkle Road project includes lane closures and reduced speeds and has been communicated to the public on a variety of platforms including social media, news coverage, and direct alerts for those subscribed.
And traffic delays are expected to increase on Tuesday, July 6, when traffic will be routed to Sprinkle Rd. for M-DOT’s I-94 project. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.
