KENTWOOD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A shooting involving a police officer and an armed man Tuesday afternoon in the Grand Rapids area is under investigation.
Witnesses say a man in the suburb of Kentwood was in the road yelling and fired a shot from a rifle at around 3:00 p.m.. When officers arrived, they located the suspect, who was still armed, at a condominium. A Kentwood officer fired a service pistol, injuring the suspect who is expected to survive.
The officer was not injured and was been placed on standard administrative leave. The Kent County Sheriff’s Department will conduct an investigation into the incident.
