COMSTOCK PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — West Michigan Whitecaps outfielder Eric De La Rosa propelled the ‘Caps past the Dayton Dragons 12-10 in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday before the Caps fell in the second game 5-3 at LMCU Ballpark.
Along with the walk-off home run, De La Rosa hit for the cycle in the first game. The Whitecaps and Dragons started in the sixth inning of their seven-inning contest that was suspended back on June 25th, with Dayton leading 7-4.
West Michigan scored first in game two, in the 5th inning to take a 2-0 lead. But a bases-loaded walk in the sixth before two more in the top half of the eighth put the Whitecaps behind 3-2. The Dragons struck for two runs in the ninth to steal the series finale by a score of 5-3.
The Whitecaps begin a six-game road trip against the Peoria Chiefs on Tuesday at 7:35 pm.
