BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Highway patrol officers in Ohio say a Battle Creek man, recently accused in two attempted kidnapping cases, was killed in a crash that involved three semi-trucks.
38-year-old Robert Martinez was reported to be a passenger in one of the semi-trucks when the crash happened last Thursday near Jackson, Ohio. Investigators say the driver of one semi had slowed to make a turn on U.S. 35 when it was rear-ended. It caused a chain reaction as a third semi crashed into the second one.
Martinez died at the scene from injuries caused by the impact. Others involved were treated at the scene.
Martinez had recently been cleared in one case against him where he was accused of trying to kidnap a woman on a bicycle in May. A mother reported that he had approached children that same day who were swimming in a pool in her yard. He had not yet been charged in that case.
