GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Grand Rapids police are investigating after a man was shot and killed late Friday evening, June 25th, in the city’s south side.
Police say it happened around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Madison Avenue Southeast and 28th Street where a man was found with an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, nor his age, but only saying that he was an adult.
Despite attempts at life-saving measures by the officers, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, GRPD said. Detectives and forensic personnel were conducting the investigation and said that an autopsy would be performed by the Kent County Medical Examiner.
Police said the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
They went onto say that the circumstances behind the shooting remain unknown and that no suspects have yet been identified. The death marks the city’s sixth homicide of 2021.
