GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Recent rainfall has helped ease one problem but more expected rainfall in the next several days in parts of Michigan could cause a new problem.
The latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows most counties in the region have been moved back from severe drought to moderate drought. Just a few areas from Kent and Ottawa counties to the east into mid-Michigan and the Thumb region remain in a severe drought.
But now areas of flooding are becoming a concern as rain, heavy at times, is forecast the next several days. Up to 4 inches of rain is expected across West Michigan by the end of the weekend. Some areas could get even more as rain will likely linger into next week.
