MONTEREY TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A two-vehicle crash in Allegan County caused by a driver who ran at a stop sign left one person dead Wednesday afternoon.
Michigan State Police Troopers responded to the intersection of 134th Ave and 26th St. in Monterey Township at around 5:45. Early investigations showed the driver of a pickup truck ran a stop sign and struck another pickup truck that had the right of way.
The at-fault driver, a 76-year-old man from the Allegan area, died at the scene. It was reported he was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The other driver, a 53-year-old woman also from the Allegan area, suffered minor injuries.
Investigations into the crash continue. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Wayland EMS, and Salem and Hopkins Fire Departments.
