DETROIT, MI — General Motors plans on spending 35 billion dollars on its electric vehicle program through 2025. The automaker announced their plan today which is 30-percent higher than earlier figures released by the company.
GM also said it will be add two more lithium battery factories and the construction dates have been moved up. GM already has battery plants under construction in Tennessee and Ohio. GM CEO Mary Barra said they hope to have one million electric vehicles sold by 2025.
Meanwhile, the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company says it will offer all electric vehicles by 2030. There will be four new battery-electric models introduced in the coming years. Ford announced its plan to invest 30-billion dollars in their electric vehicles earlier this year.
