BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek man who had attempted kidnapping charges dismissed recently is now the victim of an apparent arson that left his home destroyed.
38-year-old Robert Martinez was released from the Calhoun County jail last Thursday before a scheduled preliminary examination. Early Sunday morning, his home at the Creek Valley Mobile Home Park was burned to the ground in a suspicious fire.
Martinez had been arrested after a woman claimed he grabbed her from her bicycle on May 21st. The charges were thrown out because the woman has not been located to be served a subpoena.
Meanwhile, Martinez still could be charged for another incident from the same day involving a woman and two children. He is accused of approaching them at a property on Lacey Avenue while the boys were swimming in a pool.
