A deadline is coming up in a week for public comments regarding USDA plans to strengthen the country’s food supply system.
Deputy Undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Mae Wu says the goal is a system that’s more fair and competitive, healthier and more sustainable. She says feedback is needed from farmers, food processors and others who are links in the chain. Disruptions which showed up during the pandemic have revealed weaknesses in the supply network from producers to consumers.
Mae Wu says now is the time to apply what has been learned over the past year to make the U-S food system more resilient.
