GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The West Michigan Whitecaps split a six-game series with the Lansing Lugnuts, including a 6-2 loss on Sunday to wrap up the series.
After the game, the Detroit Tigers announced that two players, infielder Spencer Torkelson and catcher Dillon Dingler, were promoted to the AA Erie SeaWolves. According to the Whitecaps, the two thrived during their brief time on the team. Torkelson, the Tiger’s #1 prospect, hit .312 with five home runs and 28 RBI in only 31 games. Dingler, the Tiger’s #4 prospect, hit .287 with a .376 on-base percentage while leading the team with eight home runs.
The Whitecaps will be on the road for a six-game series against the Lake County Captains beginning Tuesday night at 7:05.
