KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Earlier this week, Western Michigan University announced that it will receive a historic $550 Million donation for financial assistance and programs.
Now, we’re learning that some of that money will be used for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Candy McCorkle from WMU’s diversity office says making sure everyone has an equal opportunity will be crucial for future success.
Western Michigan University President Edward Montgomery spoke with us Wednesday morning on the record-setting gift to the university and says he is still stunned at the announcement. Along with efforts for equal opportunity, he says part of the money will be used for student financial assistance.
Further details on how the money will be used are expected to come in the next few weeks. The full interview with President Montgomery can be heard right here on our website. Just go to the Podcasts section and click below.
