ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Tuesday, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office released a warning to residents regarding imposter phone calls.
Officials say reports have come in about suspicious individuals representing the Allegan County Sheriffs Office Detective Bureau.
The individuals are stating that the person being called has an arrest warrant for various crimes, and deputies are currently coming to your residence to make an arrest.
The individuals are demanding money be sent to stop the arrest process. Police say this is a common practice that fraudsters use to obtain money fraudulently.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that a phone call of this nature should be considered false, and to immediately stop the conversation and do not send any money.
Residents should note that the Sheriff’s Office does not conduct business in this fashion, and any questions or concerns can be addressed by calling the business line at 269-673-0500.
