BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek police are investigating an email scam that left a woman out $10,000.
The 27-year-old reported the incident to officers on Tuesday. She said back in April, she received an email through an account at Kellogg Community College. The person identified themselves as a survey team from Bitcoin offering to send her $10,000 to participate.
She deposited the check on April 20 and then spent the money. She was later notified by her bank that the check was fraudulent.
Police currently have no information about any possible suspects or where the email may have originated from.
