FORT WAYNE, IN (WKZO AM/FM) — It was a flat start to the season for the West Michigan Whitecaps who didn’t manage to score a single run in their first effort in 2021. The final was 8-0 Tuesday against Fort Wayne on the road.
The game was scoreless until the 2nd inning when the TinCaps tallied two runs, which is all they would need. The Whitecaps only managed four hits in the opener. Fort Wayne starter Ethan Elliot went four scoreless innings while striking out nine Whitecaps hitters.
The Whitecaps and TinCaps continue their six-game series Wednesday night for game two.
West Michigan’s home opener is May 11 against the Great Lakes Loons at LMCU Ballpark.
