LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man from Allegan County, who is among those charged in a plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer last year, will have to wear a GPS tether as part of conditions of bond set by the court.
38-year-old Michael Null of Plainwell and his brother William from Shelbyville were part of the group Wolverine Watchmen. Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Wednesday that close monitoring by the courts while the legal proceedings play out is necessary.
“These men were allegedly part of a complex plot to kidnap and harm the governor. The severity of these crimes and the disregard the defendants’ display for our institutions of government, warrant close monitoring by the courts.”
Null and his brother both face charges of terrorism related to the plot as well as weapon charges. They both could spend at least 20 years in prison if convicted.
