DEKALB, IL (WKZO AM/FM) — The Western Michigan softball team earned a series split at Northern Illinois on Sunday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader after the teams did the same on Friday.
Sunday’s action saw NIU take game one, 8-1, before the Broncos rebounded to take the second game, 10-2.
In the first game, the Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and it was all they needed. For WMU, Mackenzie Swinehart was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Kaylen Glenfield was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In the second game, the Broncos bounced back, as Jordyn Swinehart went 3-for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Stefanick was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Glenfield, Alyssa Kramer, and Taylor Garey had two hits each, while Madison Duell knocked in two runs.
W.M.U. returns home this weekend for a four-game MAC series with Toledo. The first game is Friday at 3:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game at 1:00 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at noon.
