Kalamazoo Public Schools have spent a lot of additional money on laptops and other computer gear to make online learning possible during the pandemic. And they say that too often, some of that material is coming back in bad shape or even broken.
That’s why they are now considering a policy to hold students accountable for the condition of assigned online school supplies. Board Vice-chair Ti’Anna Harrison says if approved, her proposal would apply to all school property wrecked due to neglect or ill-intent. Penalties would depend on the extent of the damage and if it’s a repeat offense. Punishments could include having to pay reimbursement for damages.
