LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Calhoun County two vehicle crash involving a full-size van and a sedan early Wednesday afternoon injured five persons with two persons suffering life threatening injuries according to the Michigan State Police.
State Police are investigating the crash that took place at the intersection of B Drive South and 6 Mile Road in Leroy Township.
According to the State Police, their preliminary investigation found the driver of the sedan was traveling south on 6 Mile Road and failed to yield the right of way to the van that was traveling west on B Drive South resulting in a T-Bone collision.
The 66-year-old female driver of the sedan and her 36-year-old passenger received life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from their vehicle by fire department personnel.
Both were transported from the scene by Ambulance and later flown out to an undisclosed hospital. The three occupants of the van received minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.
All occupants involved were Battle Creek residents. The investigation is still ongoing. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and the Emmett Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
