DETROIT, MI — General Motors is extending production downtime another two weeks at its Lansing Grand River (LGR) plant where the Chevrolet Camaro and Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are built. The earliest production could resume is April 19.
Production in Lansing at LGR has been down there since March 15. The car maker employs 1,600 line workers at the plant located just south of downtown Lansing.
The Detroit-based automaker and others have been battling a semiconductor supply shortage since the start of 2021. GM said Wednesday it is halting production for two weeks at its Missouri midsize truck plant due to the parts shortage.
GM has said it would prioritize building its most popular products, like trucks — even if that means extending shut downs at facilites that build less desirable models.
