PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As temperatures begin to rise, Portage Parks and Recreation set to provide ample outdoor recreation opportunities from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
During early spring, park users will have access to heated restrooms at a variety of park locations. Park users will have access to heated restrooms at the following park locations:
Portage Creek Bicentennial Park North Trailhead (424 East Kilgore Road), Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail Milham Entrance (910 East Milham Avenue), Celery Flats Pavilion (7335 Garden Lane), and Eliason Nature Reserve (1614 Osterhout Avenue).
Portable restrooms will also be available at:
Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road), Lakeview Park (9345 Portage Road) and Oakland Drive Park (7650 Oakland Drive).
All other restrooms are scheduled to be open starting on May 1. Visit mypark.portagemi.gov for a map of heated restrooms.
Nets at tennis and pickleball courts have been installed for the 2021 season. However, basketball and volleyball courts are still closed until April 19 in compliance with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) orders.
The skate park at South Westnedge Park is now open for the 2021 season, weather conditions permitting. The inline skating rink at South Westnedge Park is undergoing remediation and will be completed by the end of May.
