LANSING, MI — Lansing students now will begin returning to schools starting March 29, according to school officials. All other phased-in mix of online and in-school classes remains on schedule.
The one-week delay will affect about 120 students since many of the students that are scheduled to return the first week have special needs and/or individual learning plans, according to a Lansing School District press release.
“Our COVID coordinating committee includes our Lansing school nurses and they made the recommendation that the minimum infection metrics we set for returning kids to the classroom are above our scientific threshold,” said superintendent Sam Sinicropi. “The State of Michigan has seen a slight uptick in infection rates since last week. This first returning cohort group of 120 students can wait one more week for safety purposes before we welcome them back into the hybrid/classroom experience.”
