BANGOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Tuesday, WWMT reported that the City of Bangor mayor, Darren Williams, was charged with two felony counts of forgery in October 2020.
According to the report, the charges stem from “altering a personal check” last August.
The Bangor City Attorney, Scott Graham, told WWMT that the incident had nothing to do with city-related business, and that Williams isn’t in charge of city finances anyway.
The matter has been delayed until now due to the ongoing pandemic, with the last court action taken in January.
At that time, WWMT reported that evidence had been exchanged between County Prosecutor Jeff Getting and the attorney for Williams.
